It's the Hoofer Sailing Club's 2020 Snow Ball, this Friday Feb 7! If you never get invited to frat parties, and if you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or other emotional issues, then the Snow Ball is just what the doctor ordered.
There will be dancing, prancing, awkward moments, and free Kool-Aid®. There will also be lots of people who are better than you, and if you've got balls, you may be able to meet one of them. It's an opportunity to better yourself!
And did we mention: FREE of BEER!
Just don't forget to bring your balls. Beach balls, baseballs, or little glass balls (marbles). But whatever you do, don't be throwing hundreds of them (or ball bearings) out onto the dance floor!
Free antiviral masks will be handed out at the door (free with your paid registration fee).
And that's not all!! This Saturday is the Ski & Snowboard Club's RAIL JAM, which oddly enough isn't listed with the week's other events on the Union's website. If you enjoy frostbite and respond well to authority, this will be a lot of fun too.
NOTE: Events end promptly at 11:45 PM because freshman have to be back at their dorms by 12.

My understanding of lands to the west of California are a bit thin. But aren't the Tongs a gang? Sure that doesn't mean that the Tong Family and their Marina was built with ill-gotten monies via the Triad, but it does give pause.
ReplyDeleteWould we have gone for Corleone or Gambino Family Marina? Manson Family Marina? Connotations about any of those names combined with Family make for a sticky meatball. Makes one wonder how people from the Far East react when they see Tong Family Marina. Seems a bit insensitive that no one thought of that.
I don't think Manson Family Marina would have gone over well with the general public. Charles Manson used a bunch of college-aged kids to do his bidding. Any similarity with Dave Elsmo and the kids on the Sailing Team is just coincidental. Of course, what happened on those Sailing Team road trips is purely conjecture; and a cold case.

ReplyDeleteSad that Hoofer sailing is being compared to Charles Manson, but there are parallels. Manson used brainwashing, much as the willing or weak-minded (hint: BOC) are manipulated here by Mr. E and the union higher-ups. It isn't much of a stretch to conclude that the two deaths in recent years are attributable to the mindset instilled by people like DaveE, JimR and certain others who bought into their plan. Who enthusiastically supported the remodeling..? They seem to get ideas and draw moral authority from organizations like the Boy Scouts, Catholic church, etc.

Btw, if you look online "Tong" apparently means "gang" not a specific name like Gambino. Thus it is really the "Gangsta Marina". Kinda has a ring to it eh?

We can all agree that Manson Family Marina is potentially less offensive than Tong or Gang. Being the lowest common denominator, Manson Family Marina it is. Plus, they murdered the Techs.
Who do we call about the Tech massacre? Same gov office that took a year on the Yu Chen incident? How can we prevent the further slaughter of Techs? Is there no higher authority?

ReplyDeleteQuestion to One and All: How do we call Hoofer's Management on the rug regarding this Tech Demolition Derby? If the answer is there is nothing that can be done, then bring forth the media for the 'Sad day for a Madison Tradition. All of the UW Badger Techs were found buried in a shallow landfill. Forensic teams found 'Helter Skelter' painted in red on the remains of Tech Hulls. At this time, it appears to be the work of the infamous Manson Family Marina followers. Pffttt.....
ReplyDeleteCurrent club "leaders" are minions who want to forget the past, which is why they won't let certain people sail anymore, or even come to BOC meetings, because they know those individuals might complain about degenerate stuff like getting rid of the Techs and replacing them with gay plastic toy boats. Those former members used to complain about things like paid keelboat instruction, crimes being committed by Hoofer leaders, and so on, leading to said individuals removal.

But out there with these digital natives, it must be a temptation to be god. Because there's a conflict in every human heart, between the rational and the irrational, between good and evil. And good does not always triumph. Sometimes, the dark side overcomes what Lincoln called the better angels of our nature. Every man has got a breaking point. You and I have one. Walter Kurtz (Elsmo) has reached his. And very obviously, he has gone insane.

ReplyDeleteThe Techs are not gone or destroyed. They are stored somewhere else and can be pulled back and put in service as expected. Elsmo is a Steward of the Club and the Wisconsin Idea.
ReplyDeleteIf someone is a poor Steward of the Public Trust, they need to be removed. Bring back the Techs in the spring or face intense scrutiny. There are tens of thousands of former and current Hoofer Sailors. We will investigate and accountability is front and center.
Social media is a powerful tool to inform the Hoofer Community. Many have great power and influence. The UW will hear their roar.
Yield or face scrutiny. Change your course Elsmo, you're stuck in Irons on this one.
